Tau's Pride: Storms by Wendi Kelly & Deborah Dorchak
In the first of a new series, following on from Bonds of Blood and Spirit, we start with Storms, and a more apt description of this book I cannot imagine. This book is simply tumultuous from start to end!
The oneness that the Pride and Pack attained is hard to keep going, once normal life gets in the way. What with babies, long-lost brothers and sisters, Rosewood Pride, Valley Pride, the Morrison brothers, it's no wonder that Regina is at her wit's end. I really felt sorry for her in this book. She has given so much of herself, admits her faults and tries to work on them, is unashamedly loyal to those she calls 'family', and yet she is disregarded and disrespected. I don't place one iota of blame on her shoulders. One character who I did like, but has gone down in my estimation, is Cole. And I realise that I will get shot down in flames for this, but this is my review and my opinion! ;) He claims to love Regina and Angelina, and yet treats both of them with ignorance and certainly no love. I could rave on for a while on his shortcomings, but I won't. Suffice it to say, I fell out with him in this book! Mind you, I think I have always preferred Harry, and I was very impressed with him as the story went on. I did wonder why he was such a wallflower to begin with, but received all the answers I could ask for.
With so much angst, you would be forgiven to think the story is at a standstill, but you would be entirely wrong. The next stage of the prophecy is moving into place, Harry has an unwelcome passenger, the FSC is playing games, it's still all going on.
With lots of action, twists and turns, plus endearing (and annoying) characters, this is a wonderful start to the new series, and I look forward to seeing where it will go next.
