REVIEW BY MERISSA - Dark Promise (NightWalkers #1) by Nikki Landis

Dark Promise - Nikki Landis
Dark Promise is the first book in the NightWalkers series. It introduces us to a world where vampires exist, ruled by a council. You have the usual squabbles for power amongst the lower ranks, but Andre doesn't bother with those. He is content with his life, and yet that all changes when he meets Mare for the first time. He saves her from an intentional break in (and more), and falls under her spell. There is more going on here than first meets the eye, and Andre and Mare will have to work things out between them if either of them are to survive.

This is an intriguing start to the series, with the world well developed and described. The pace is fast, but smooth, leaving you in no doubt of when things are happening. Told from the dual perspectives of Mare and Andre, this was thoroughly enjoyable, whilst still leaving you wanting more. It was absolutely well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt the reading flow. For a sojourn into an incredibly described vampire/human world, then I can definitely recommend this book, and I am looking forward to their story continuing after that cliffhanger ending!
