Exchange of Power (Power #1) by Andrea Bills
Exchange of Power has all the write up for a great romance suspense. What is delivered is something very different. The story itself could be gripping and enthralling, but for me it just didn't work. The writing style is very jerky, with the timeline jumping from one day, to the next month, to a year passing before you realise it. The characters don't appear to have time to form any sort of connection. You are told that they do, but you don't see it. You also aren't with the characters long enough to form any sort of attachment to them, before you skip off to the next chapter, told from someone else's point of view. It is only once you start reading that chapter that you find out if it is Hannah, Jared, Nick, the mysterious big bad, OR the underling who wants to usurp him. There are editing and grammatical errors throughout the book, even from the very first page. You are left with a cliffhanger, but the book just didn't raise my interest level high enough to care what happens next. I would suggest this book needs to be proofread and edited, smoothed out, and gaps filled in, and then it could become the book it has the potential to be.
